Crazy CL People

Woman posted about getting a puppy from an Animal Shelter that later died of Parvo (exposure at the shelter).

MY RESPONSE:

Are you talking about xxxx County Humane Society? I adopted a puppy from them 7 years ago. He came with a free vet check at a participating vet. I took him there, the vet haphazardly looked over him - said he was fine. A week later, I noticed he wasn't acting funny and took him to my (then) regular vet (I was a college student, and my regular vet was 5 hours away). My regular vet diagnosed him with severe ear mites that he probably had since he was born and lucky he wasn't deaf, a staph infection he had for awhile since before I had him, and mange. I spent $2000 in attempted treatment for this puppy, but he wasn't getting any better, and, back then, the medication for mange was quite severe and it broke down his system. We ended up euthanizing him when he wasn't getting better, but worse.

Hall County and the "participating vets" are jokes! They had the audacity to send me a "Why isn't your pet neutered yet" letter. I had my veterinarian answer them.

The BEST vet in that area, however, is the Murrayville Vet clinic! I took the above mentioned puppy to the Dahlonega Vet Hospital. After that incident, I never took any pets back there again. When I had my Doberman, I took her to Murrayville. They are inexpensive, and they truly care about the animals.

Yes Im talking about xxxx Co. They told me within 10 days if they get sick I can bring them back so their clinic can look at them.. A long time ago they gave me a free vet visit certificate but not this time. The vet there didnt even tell me about the parvo... I think he was trying to play it off but the person that actually euthanizes them told me about how many have been coming back in the last 2 weeks because of parvo.

MY RESPONSE:

That's B.S. The clinical symptoms of Parvo don't show up until 7-10 days after exposure so the 10-day rule wouldn't work anyways.

HER RESPONSE:

Do you research bud, it shows 7-10 days NORMALLY. Which means in MOST cases........ not ALL! All dogs react to things differently.

So since in pollen season, everyone that has an allergy to pollen should be sick RIGHT now???? No. Its different with every person same as a dog.

Grow up and get a life. This was specifically made to warn others from their shelter not bring childish criticism.

Background: Woman on Craigslist selling "purebred" Scottish Bobs. (Scottish Folds x Bobtailed cats)

This person posted an ad on Craigslist in the woman's defense claiming she has a so-called "Scottish Bob" and is now looking for a suitable mate for her cat.

My response asked if she had papers on the cat, etc. to prove it was a historic breed.

im sorry, no i dont have papers on my cat. unfortunatley , as much as i would love to have a purebred scottish fold, i just could not afford one. thats when i found the scottish fold, american bobtail mix. i love her just as much as if id had papers on her or couldve paid thousands of dollars for a purebred scottish fold. i am however, looking for a straight ear male for her a mate if you have any suggestions as to where i may find one.

No, I do not; however, the conversation that took place earlier this week was by a "breeder" selling "purebred" Scottish Bobs and charging $$$$ for the kittens.

HER RESPONSE:
understand... she was the same lady i bought my cat from. it was really a small price to pay even for a mixed breed scottish fold, i feel she was very much worth the fee i paid.

MY RESPONSE:
Hopefully you will be getting your cat spayed then since it's not a purebred cat. There really is no point in taking a crap shoot with breeding a mixed breed cat to try to get Scottish Fold-like ears. It is even a crap shoot with purebred Scottish Folds to get folded ears since it's the recessive gene in them.

HER RESPONSE:
Im not going for purebreed... only cats with a great personality. you couldnt ask for a sweeter cat than carley. its not like i go to shows or anything... just wanting a great pet.

MY RESPONSE:
Fantastic. That's almost as productive as only breeding because they're pretty.

Car to good home. Asking for a "re-homing" fee of $6730 to ensure a proper home and to recoup some of the things that I bought for it:

1. Car - I paid $1500 for it ten years ago - has 150,000 miles on it.
2. Oil changes its had in those ten years: $1200
3. Tires - I've bought 5 sets for it at $400/set = $2000
4. Gasoline - I recently filled it up with gasoline: $30
5. Other expenses - $2000 I care about this car so much and want to ensure it goes to a proper home. I prefer that it be garage kept with its parking brake on when not in use so that it doesn't wander. I have to find my car a new home because I am allergic to its interior.

Horse "Rescue" - Harmony Meadows

A friend of mine pointed out this "rescue" to me. They claimed to have tax write-offs, etc.

Well, I checked with the IRS, and this "rescue" does not have 501(c)3 status in order to provide persons with tax deductions for being a non-profit organization.

Straight from Harmony Meadows' website:
"Harmony Meadows is a Nonprofit Organization working to help saving unwanted or abused horses."
"Any items or money donated to Harmony Meadows or for Harmony Meadows is a Tax Deduction. We do have forms that will be given to you."

I CAN, however, say that Harmony Meadows is incorporated with the State of Georgia AS a "non-profit" organization (in 2007). They have never received their 501(c)3 status though.

I can't find out any information about adoption on their website or from their director. They offer "fostering," but that's it. They have a handful of acres and over 20 horses. It appears overcrowded to me and does not look like land that should be a horse farm let alone a rescue: mud, steep hills, exposed roots, dried creek beds, half-finished bridges, etc.

Beautiful Spotted Stallion. I have owned the horse for over 2 years. Its up to date on its wormer and has its coggins papers. It has won several local shows. Very gentle and very happy and healthy horse. He is stable kept always. Stables are very clean. He very eager to show again or he can also be trail ridden. He has successfully bread 3 mares and can be round pin turnout. You wont find a better or more beautiful stallion for this price. Come check us out. Call for more info or directions to the barn and show ring. Thats right, you can see him in action. Show ring on premises. You really have to see him to appreciate.

*** You'd think if you were trying to sell a horse that was a "SHOW WINNING...Stallion" that you'd at LEAST have one decent photo of him....instead of showing him in cross-ties...post bath(?)....in the dark. This screams to me "HIDING SOMETHING."
